The City of Livermore is currently developing a land use and circulation plan for this station's surrounding areas, which includes Sage. Known as the Isabel Neighborhood Plan, the area covers approximately 1,132 acres and surrounds the proposed Isabel BART station. The City and its consultants are conducting outreach with the community and stakeholders to obtain input on the plan. Opportunities for direct involvement include community meetings, online surveys, public workshops, and hearings. As Lead Agency, the City of Livermore will complete a Program-level Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that addresses the potential environmental impacts related to implementation of the Isabel Neighborhood Plan. The City expects the EIR to be available for public review in 2016.
A federal-level Environmental Impact Statement will likely need to be prepared to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) prior to completing the extension's final engineering and before construction work can begin. The anticipated date for opening the completed extension and new BART station is 2026.
